Keep Going, Keep Growing

On December 3, 2014, I created this blog. At the time, I had no idea what I wanted it to become. I just knew that I had a message, and I needed some way to share it. As I contemplated a name for this blog, it finally dawned on me: Keep going, keep growing. That’s it.

Today, I realized that in my three years of blogging, I never really explained the concept of “Keep Going, Keep Growing.” It’s a theme that can be seen across all of my posts, but I have yet to dedicate an entire post to what that phrase means to me—until today.

Keep Going

As we all know, life consists of the unexpected. We never know when things will go left or right, up or down, or anywhere in between. One day, we may feel on top of the world, and the next we may feel the weight of the world on our shoulders. Through all of this, we must keep going.

It is so easy to hit a bump in the road and stop dead in your tracks. You may feel lost, confused, frustrated, angry, or all of the above, but that doesn’t mean you stop. Think about it, if you stop where you are in the moment, you will never leave that moment. You will be lost or confused or angry forever, and that is absolutely no way to live.

In order for things to get better, you must keep going. No matter what it takes. Even if you have to drag yourself through each and every day, please keep going. I promise it will get better. Keep. Going.

Keep Growing

It’s just as important to grow through life as it is to go through life. When you get past those low moments, you must grow from them. When you overcome difficult situations, you come out stronger. You grow from those experiences, and you are better prepared to handle more experiences of the sort in the future.

Every day of your life you are mentally growing. You’re watching, learning, and adapting to what is happening around you, and you are learning from it. If you are aware of your surroundings, you are growing. You may not realize it at the time, but if you look back you will see that every experience you had, both good and bad, have helped you grow into the person you are today.

I’m Going, I’m Growing

As I look back on the 70+ blog posts I’ve written over the past three years, I can’t help but notice how much I’ve grown. Not only as a writer, but also as a person. I started out as a scared, unsure 19-year-old woman. I was trying to convince myself that I was 100% okay, and I wanted to use my okay-ness to help others. I can’t help but root for that 19-year-old.

I had no idea that I would face the struggles I faced or learn the lessons I was destined to learn. I had no idea that there was still so much to learn about myself and so much more knowledge to share with others. I had no idea that this blog would be such a wonderful outlet for me to share my thoughts, feelings, and concerns. I had no idea I would come this far.

It’s been three years since I wrote my first post for this blog, and I couldn’t be happier about how far it’s come. I may not have a huge following, but I am so incredibly thankful for the people that frequently check in on my blog. And for those of you who may have just stumbled upon my blog today, feel free to stay for a while. I hope you all enjoy reading my posts as much as I enjoy writing them.
