We live in a society where your opinion isn’t recognized. If you have a different opinion than the majority, then you are deemed ignorant and incompetent. No one wants to hear what you have to say, and they belittle your words until you have no more.
It’s sickening.
People are afraid to speak their minds. They are afraid to disagree with others because they don’t want to be taunted and humiliated. How are we supposed to be innovators when we are all afraid to say what we are thinking?
Some people say there are times when it is better to keep your opinions to yourself, but where do we draw the line? Politics. Religion. Thoughts. Feelings. Emotions. What’s the difference?
Having an opinion, a voice, is the only thing that no one can ever take away from us, but when you refrain from speaking up because you don’t want people to get upset with you, your voice is being taken away. Your opinion means more than you know.
People are going to disagree with you, but that’s okay. If for some reason you upset someone with your opinion, then that just means that they were not mature enough to respect that people disagree. It’s human nature. Keep your head held high, and never let someone see it fall.
Do not let the hurtful words of others silence you. If (actually, when) someone attempts to silence your voice, scream. Scream what you think and what you know and what you want others to know. cThere will be people who agree with you, and in many cases those people were probably too afraid to speak up.
You have the right to an opinion. You have the right to speak your mind. You have the right to tell others how you feel. You have the right to let your voice be known.
Be the voice that leads the voices.
